Is there a story behind your name and number? I love butternut squash and loved the name because it is seriously silly and fun.

What year did you start roller derby? I started playing roller derby December 2009 in Shreveport, LA. I was part of the original founding group of the Twin City Knockers.

What roller derby team(s) have/do you play for? Twin City Knockers (2009-2011), Elm St. Nightmares (2011-present), Greensboro Counterstrike (2015-2016), Gate City All Stars (2016-present), Team Philippines (RDWC 2018)

Your Athletic background? Growing up, I never really got into sports. The only sport I did was swimming (non-competitively) and roller skating. As an adult, I have coached and played roller derby and kickball.

Any derby/sports heroes? Shortstop (Team Korea/Gotham), Lady Trample (Victorian Roller Derby)

Best derby memory? June 2013 When I played my fiercest in our Star Wars Doubleheader and got MVP for the Elm St. Nightmares.

Why do you play roller derby? Because its empowering and challenging. There are so many aspects of roller derby that bring out the competitive, athletic, confident, aggressive, motivated leader and skater in me. I play roller derby because the friendships I make and the support I receive and am able to give mean so much to me. I am Butternut Squasher and I love Greensboro Roller Derby!

Gear you couldn’t live without? My roller skates! They are like my special super power.
